BRIGHT FUTURES: A TALE OF
TWO MUSEUMS
Every day, someone asks, “When are you moving to Downtown Hartford?” The short answer is we are NOT and the best is yet to come for The Children’s Museum. We look forward to exciting partnerships with The Connecticut Science Center opening in Hartford, but The Children’s Museum will continue our own successful focus on teaching and hands-on learning for younger children and families with an emphasis on the natural sciences. For the region and the state, both The Children’s Museum and The Connecticut Science Center have bright futures.
The Children’s Museum is a great place of learning and fun for kids and families. Serving almost 200,000 kids and families annually, we are one of the state’s major attractions. With a great school for young children, educational programs on site, outreach programs in the schools and professional development for teachers, we are a leading resource in science education and environmental stewardship. Through our talented and dedicated staff, exhibits and activities, Wildlife Sanctuary and Roaring Brook Nature Center, we are a safe, caring and welcoming place for learning, teaching and fun.
The Children’s Museum is also beginning an exciting time of renewal, relocation and growth. The stars are out at the new, state-of-the-art Science Dome theater in the Planetarium. The dinosaurs are coming back big time in February. The state’s allocation of $500,000 in bond funds is a real vote of confidence. Most of all, West Hartford’s decision to invest with us in the feasibility of a new home launches The Children’s Museum into a new era.
So when someone asks, just tell them The Children’s Museum is moving up and the best is yet to come. Meantime, check us out on line at www.thechildrensmuseumct.org and come on over for learning that’s fun.
