Zula® Patrol:
Under the Weather

Grades PK – 2
The Zula® Patrol is a group of characters from the educational children’s programs on PBS television.  The goal of the program is to teach young children about science and astronomy in a fun and non-violent way.

In the planetarium program, the characters are collecting the forms of weather from their home planet.

Their pet Gorga collects the specimens with his nose and deposits them in containers for study.  The team discusses the components of weather: temperature, pressure, wind, humidity, clouds, and precipitation.

When Gorga’s feelings are hurt, and he runs away, the Zula Patrol chases him all the way to our Solar System.  Here they learn all about the weather on Earth and other planets, like Mars and Jupiter, while trying to save Gorga from the villain Dark Truder.  Dark Truder uses Gorga to collect weather for his own evil plans until the Zula® Patrol can recue him.

Also, when time allows the students will have the opportunity to ask the staff astronomers their own astronomy questions.  Our new SciDome technology enables us to illustrate the answers with realistic photos and facts about celestial objects including planets and constellations.
