Homeschool Day at The Children’s Museum

Join us for our Science Education Day dedicated to Homeschoolers. Enhance your children’s educational experiences with one or more of our classroom programs or Science Dome planetarium presentations. Tour our hands-on exhibits and network with other homeschool parents. Our workshops and planetarium shows are appropriate for children from five to thirteen years old.

View the program schedule to make the best selection for your family. You can choose up to four programs. We have selected a variety of classes and shows for every grade level. It is our goal that your children receive the maximum learning enjoyment from our programs.

Program Scheduling

Classroom and planetarium programs begin promptly at:

  • Programs are approximately 45 minutes.
  • Classrooms programs accommodate up to 30 students.
  • Science Dome seats up to 145.
  • To adhere to fire regulations, a limited amount of people are allowed in the classrooms and the Science Dome.
  • No additional adults and siblings will be allowed in the classrooms.
  • The Children’s Museum reserves the right to cancel any classes due to lack of enrollment. Programs must have at least 10 participants.

RATES (include a self-guided tour)

Rates Per Student:

$7.50 each program (Classroom or Planetarium)

Rates Adults and Additional Children:

FREE Admission for The Children’s Museum or reciprocal museum members and additional children under 2.


$7.00 Admission for non-members, including additional children ages 2 and older.

 

Reciprocal Museums are members of ACM or ASTC. The following local museums do not share reciprocal privileges: The Connecticut Science Center, Maritime Museum, Mystic Seaport/Aquarium, Old Sturbridge Village, and Wadsworth Athenaeum.


PAYMENT

  • Full payment is due at time of booking with MasterCard or Visa®.
  • The Children’s Museum does not accept Children’s Museum memberships or reciprocal museum memberships as a form of payment for student programs.

ARRIVAL

  • You must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your first program, allowing time to check-in.
  • Late arrivals result in cancellation of your program. You cannot enter a presentation once it has begun.

LUNCH ARRANGEMENTS

  • Snack and drink vending machines are available in the Dino Café, a section of the Excavation Station.
  • There is approximately a 45 minute break from 11:45 – 12:30 for families to enjoy their lunches.
  • Outdoor picnic areas are available, weather permitting.
  • Eating space is limited.

REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS

  • The Children’s Museum does not issue credits.

  • Refunds are granted only when The Children's Museum cancels a class or show.

  • All other program fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

    SPECIAL NEEDS

    • Please notify the Registration Department of any special needs including learning or physical disabilities, behavioral issues, or language barriers.

    Wheelchair AND STROLLER accessibility is limited to outside entrances. There are no elevators or ramps within The Children’s Museum.
