About the UTC Wildlife Sanctuary

The United Technologies Wildlife Sanctuary is one of many institutions across the country that provides safe homes to animals. The sanctuary staff works with the Avon Veterinary Clinic, Advanced Veterinary Care in Farmington and state and federal agencies to ensure that the needs of all of the animals are met.

All of the animals receive proper food and housing and appropriate exercise. Many of the animals are comfortable being handled and are used for educational programs.

Behavioral enrichment is a management tool through which animal caretakers can provide their animals with mental and physical stimulation using both natural and artificial objects. The goal of the enrichment program at The Children’s Museum is to increase activity and stimulation levels, decreasing boredom and stereotypic behaviors.
