Sink your teeth into science this summer!

Take a “day-cation” at the Museum.  Summer programming starts on June 23. We’ll be open Monday – Saturday from 10:00 – 5:00 PM and Sunday noon – 5 PM with hands-on science exhibits, live animals, new out-of-this-world digital planetarium shows and a host of special events and programs.  Each day we have special hands-on science experiments for you to try: magnets, boats, fingerprints, buildings, music and much more.   Daily animal demonstrations and feedings bring you up-close and personal with the over 100 species that call the UTC Wildlife Sanctuary home.  Explore the depths of space in the new Travelers Science Dome at the Gengras Planetarium.  Every show is unique being led by our staff astronomers who will show you the night sky, take you to the planets and answer all your cosmic questions.  We are proud to premiere Earth’s Wild Ride, a new planetarium show made possible by Hamilton Sundstrand.

Special Summer Wednesdays

Each Wednesday from 11 AM – 4 PM the Museum features unique science activities for the family.  Registration is not needed.

Wild About Animals – July 9, 2008
Help us welcome special animal guests from the Forest Park Zoo for a one day only appearance.

Bubbles Galore - July 16, 2008
Hundreds and hundreds of bubbles will be released from our bubble machine. Chase them, pop them, and stomp on them!  Experiment with big and small wands, and even dino wands.  Blow your own bubbles through a straw and top it off with a beautiful bubble print.

Dinosaur Days - July 23, 2008
Make a 3-D dinosaur, play games and touch real fossils.  Visit our homemade dinosaur nest and hatch dinosaur eggs.

Space Day - July 30, 2008
Race an airplane, take a planet walk, and help create a giant crater.  Sample some subzero snacks and watch a rocket launch during a day devoted to outer space.

The Great Egg Drop - August 6, 2008
Because you demanded it, it’s the return of the world's most eggs-citing experiment. Armed only with ordinary household materials, you'll have to build a device that will protect an egg from a fall of more than 15 feet.

Science Olympics - August 13, 2008
Learn about the first Olympics and crack the ancient code of the Greeks.  Discover how our muscles work to power us through the Olympic Games and even examine a real heart.

Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Day - August 20, 2008
End the summer in the coolest way possible: with ice cream. Using super-cold liquid nitrogen (at a chilly -320 degrees) we'll concoct ice cream from scratch.  Free while supplies last!
