Sumingashi literally translates in “floating ink.” As the name suggests, the process consists of marbling rice paper with water and ink, transforming a plain sheet into something vibrant and colorful. Join us as we float ink and learn to create beautiful sheets of marbled paper!

Hong Hong is a fiber and installation artist who creates enormous works of handmade paper at the Dirt Salon in Hartford. She holds a MFA from University of Georgia and a BFA from State University of New York at Potsdam. Her work as been on display at numerous venues, including Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and Georgia Museum of Art. She currently teaches paper-making workshops in the Hartford area.
